Message from the President
Kieran in the pink in Lille
Another splendid AGM weekend thanks to Norrie and Dorothy!
We are all sorry that they could not be with us to enjoy it too. It is, as Norrie foresaw, the principal opportunity for us all to meet and enjoy each other's company.
The club has expanded greatly and will continue to do so. Currently we have eighty members - enough for six teams - so it is not surprising that we have "growing pains".
The initiative and vision of our small band of founders has been built on by successive volunteers who have expended time and energy to developing the club. The evergreen and ever enthusiastic George of course and in particular, in the most recent years, the organisational abilities and computer expertise of Alan Auld and Ian Downie who have now stepped down from office as Captain and Secretary respectively have been of immense benefit to those of us who just turn up and play. They deserve our appreciation in large measure.
As we now have so many who wish to play it is clear that new arrangements are required to spread the burden of organising club events and also discharging our responsibility to turn out international veteran teams. Happily we have more volunteers to assist with organisation, and the Committee's vision of a Coach to raise the overall standard of play and to make us more effective when we play representative hockey will lead to even more enjoyment, albeit with a more competitive edge to our play!
Anyway we are here to have fun and we are all grateful to those volunteering to set up a programme of regular club games both for the inveterate travellers and those less inclined to travel far.
Mark the website in your Favourites list and wherever we meet and play let's have fun.
